Eric Allyn officiating. Mrs. Fruendt died Monday, Feb. 22, 1982 at Marengo Memorial hospital where she had been hospitalized about ten days. Casket bearers were James and Paul Freudenberger, grandsons, Oklahoma; David Riherd, grandson-in-law, Belle Plaine; Louis Ray Maschmann, Hartwick; and Orrin and Russell Fetzer, Victor. Burial was in the International Order of Odd Fellows cemetery, Victor. Emelia Johanna Stoker was born Oct. 21, 1893, east of Victor in Hartford township, Iowa County, the daughter of John and March Rauch Stoker. She was baptized May 20, 1894, at St. John's Lutheran church, Lincoln township, and confirmed at St. John's March 24, 1907. Her marriage to Herman Fruendt took place Jan. 29, 1913 at St. James Lutheran church, Victor, wit the Rev. Otto Kitzmann performing the ceremony. After their marriage the Fruendts farmed in Lincoln township until 1947 when they moved into Victor. They were married 65 years at the time of his death in November 1978. During her lifelong membership in the Lutheran church, Mrs. Fruendt was a member of the St. James and St. John's ladies aid societies, the latter of which she had served as president. She taught vacation bible school and Sunday school at St. James for 11 years and has also served four years as district secretary of the Lutheran Women Missionary League. Mrs. Fruendt is survived by three children, Luella Freudenberger, Coyle, Okla,; Melvin Fruendt, South Amana; and Bonita (Mrs. Richard) Lindenmayer, Marengo; six grandchldren, eight great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Holley; and two brothers, Walter Stoker, Victor, and Harold Stoker, Brooklyn. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Fruendt was preceded in death by a son, Ervin; three brothers, Arnold, Charles and John; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Mohr and Mrs. Louis Herzberg.
