Description	:	Emeline R. Balch was born to Rev Nahum and Rebecca L Brooks in Gilford, NH 9/2/1842, she married Charles E. Balch on July 30, 1867. She always wanted to have a hospital named after her husband but it was not to be, instead she established a trust fund which leaves a sizable amount to a hospital in Manchester, NH. They were married for 17 years and had no children. The story of her death has an interesting turn. Some say she killed herself, however her death certificate says accidental drowning.
