Description	:	Emery Charles Martin, 72, died Friday in Superior. Services were Tuesday afternoon at Salem Lutheran Church, north of Superior. The Rev. Michael Osberg officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3355 and American Legion Post 103. Martin was born in Riverton, April 21, 1921. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3355 and American Legion Post 103. Martin was born in Riverton, April 21, 1921. The sixth of 11 children of Arthur and Hettie Pegg Martin, his childhood was in and around the Lebanon area. He attended school in Lebanon. He enlisted in the United States Navy Sept. 17, 1942, and served as a motor machinist mate third class. Stationed in the South West Pacific during World War II, he married Kathleen Ladd Nov. 26, 1945. in Sidney, Australia. To this union sons, Wayne and Duane, were born. Honorably discharged from the Navy, Martin returned to the Burr Oak and Esbon area to farm. In 1952 he joined the Superior Police Department and later became police chief, a career which spanned 31 years. July 7, 1957, he married Rosella Hornbussel. To this union were born three children, Ann, Tammy and Tony. Survivors include his wife, Rosella; sons, Wayne, Umina, NSW, Austrafta, Duane, Woy Woy, NSW, Australia; Tony, Omaha; daughters, Mrs. Tom Johnson, (Ann), Superior and Mrs. John Vasa (Tamara), Weston; seven grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Henderson, Red Cloud, Bessie Harris, Hanover, Md.; and brothers, Edgar and Vernon, Red Cloud, Paul, Spur, Texas, Gerald, Simpson, Kan., and Donnie, North Attleboro, Mass. Preceding him in death were his parents; granddaughter, April Johnson; sister, Rachel, and brothers, Verlin and Raymond. Williams Funeral Home, Superior, was in charge of arrangements.
