Description	:	Emery was born to the union of David and Mable (Johnson) Wenell on April 12, 1919 in rural Albert City. He grew up on a farm east of Albert City. He received his education from Marshall Country School. On Oct. 15, 1940 Emery was united in marriage to Geneva Peterson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City. To this union four children were born: Dr. Marilyn Whisler, Judge Gary Wenell, Delores Gardner and Dale Wenell. Emery was a devoted husband and loving father. Emery was a life-long member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City, where he was both baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. He grew up on a farm east of Albert City. He received his education from Marshall Country School. On Oct. 15, 1940 Emery was united in marriage to Geneva Peterson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City. To this union four children were born: Dr. Marilyn Whisler, Judge Gary Wenell, Delores Gardner and Dale Wenell. Emery was a devoted husband and loving father. Emery was a life-long member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City, where he was both baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. During his life he held many offices in the church including chairman of the church board several times and chairman of the building committee. Emery loved farming. It not only was his job, but also his passion. He took pride in feeding cattle, which he did all his life. He was an active community leader who was involved in many civic organizations. Emery was past president of the Iowa Livestock Feeders Association and a director of the National Livestock Feeders Association. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arnold Wenell. He is survived by his wife Geneva Wenell of Albert City; their children, Dr. Marilyn Whisler and husband Dr. Bruce Whisler of Winter Park, Fla., Gary Wenell and wife Nancy of Sioux City, Delores Gardner and husband Colin of Salt Lake City, Ut., and Dale Wenell and wife Sally of Albert City; brothers Virgil Wenell and wife Wanetta of Albert City, Paul Wenell and wife Esther of Albert City, Delbert Wenell and wife Karen of King City, Mo.; sisters Laverne Swanson of Des Moines, Lorraine Bloom and husband George of Guilford, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Mary Wenell of Laurens; grandchildren Allison and Anthony Wenell, Andrew and Alexander Gardner, Julie and Felicia Wenell; along widi many other relatives and friends.
