OBITUARY; NEVADA EVENING JOURNAL -Aug. 3, 1938 Emiel Hansen, 56, well known farmer of two miles west of NEvada in Grant township, died at Iowa Sanitatium at 11:20 last night after an illness of approximately two years, during which time the condition of his health had been gradually failing. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at Memorial Lutheran church, with his pastor, Dr. J.O. Smith in charge, and burial will be in the Nevada cemetery. There will be a prayer service at the home at 2:00. Mr. Hansen leaves besides his wife, Emmie Hansen, a son, Harold Hansen of Milfor township, a daughter, Helen Mae Hansen who is employed in the Nevada National Bank, his aged mother, Mrs. Lena Hansen who lives in the old homestead at 1046 First street, his sister Mrs. Emma Anderson of 1016 Eighth street and his little granddaughter Jane, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Harold Hansen. The father Hans Hansen died a year ago in April. Mr. Hansen was born on a farm north of McCallsburg October 24, 1881, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans hansen. The family later moved to Milford township and located on a farm northwest of Nevada. There he grew to manhood and was first married to Miss Laura Nelson and two shildren, the son Harold and daughter Helen Mae, was born to them. The family home had been established on a farm west of Nevada in Grant township and there their children were raised while Mr. Hansen and his wife were working hard and accumulating considerable property in the neighborhood. Mrs. Laura Hansen, the first wife and mother of his children died December 8, 1929 and it was about a year later that he married Miss Emmie Anderson, who survives him. Through hard work and skillful farming and business methods MR. Hansen had managed to accumulate a comfortable fortune to leave for his family. He was a men very highly regarded amoung his neighbors and friends, a devoted husband and father and held in the highest of esteem by all who favored with his acquaintance. His death will be a loss not only to the family but to the community at large and the family wil be extended the most profound sympathy of all.
