Stava Funeral Services Held in Bruno Tuesday Bruno, April 16 - This community was shocked Sunday morning when it was learned that Emil F. Stava had been accidentally killed by a train in Grand Island Saturday night. His wife and son, Theodore, of Grand Island had come to Bruno to spend Easter with relatives and they were notified of the fatal accident early Sunday morning. The remains were brought to the home of his mother, Mrs. Frances Stava, Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from the home to St. Anthony's church, the Rev. E. J. Kopecky saying requiem mass and conducting the burial rites. Interment was in St. Anthony's cemetery beside the grave of his father, who preceded him in death. The pallbearers were cousins of the deceased, Louis Mazanec, Fred Mazanec, Ludwig Mazanec, Edward Pohl, Robert Stava and J. V. Markitan. Members of the K.D. lodge formed an honorary escort. Emil F. Stava, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Stava, was born at Bruno December 27, 1888, and was 52 years, three months and 15 days of age at death. He was married to Miss Mary Ptacek February 1, 1910, at Sts. Cyril and Method church, Plasi. To them four children were born, two sons, Theodore and Leonard, and two daughters, Mrs. Sylvester Zetocha of Grand Island and Mrs. Vladimir Hamata of Schuyler, all of whom survive as do his wife, four grandchildren, his mother, one sister, Miss Agnes of Bruno, and one brother, Adolf of Rosalie, all of whom were present at the funeral. Mr. Stava spent his life on a farm adjoining Bruno prior to November, 1939, when the family moved to Grand Island to reside. He leaves many friends to mourn his untimely passing. Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were A. T. Stava and son of Rosalie, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dowding, Mrs. Joseph Sloniker and Mrs. Jake Zeleny, all of Seward; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Pohl and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mazanec, all of Chapman; Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Mazanec of Prague, Mrs. Fred Kadlecek, Mrs. Hattie Maixner, Mrs. Fred Kolar, Robert Stava, Fred Mazanec, Mr. and Mrs. John Ptacek and children, Mrs. John Sisel and children and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sedlak, all of Dwight, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Slaby and son of Lincoln and Joseph Hamata of Raymond. _____ We wish to extend our thanks to all for the kindness and sympathy shown us in our bereavement.
