'''''''''' The People's Banner, April 13, 1950, p. 12, col. 2 RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR 71 YEARS DIED AT BRUNO LAST WEEK Bruno – Funeral services for Mrs. Frantiska Stava, 84, widow of Jacob Stava and a resident of Butler county for 71 years, were held at St. Anthony’s church at Bruno Monday morning, Apr. 10, with the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Kopecky offering the requeim high mass and delivering the sermon. The services were held at nine o’clock following brief services at the family home. Interment was in St. Anthony’s cemetery. Pallbearers were Theodore and Leonard Stava, Robert Stava, Vladimir Hamata, John Pohl and George Mazanec. Mrs. Stava, who was born Feb. 3, 1866, at Prisop, Jaromerica, Czechoslovakia, was the daughter of Jacob and Frantiska Hineah Pohl. She immigrated to America with her parents and her family with her parents and her family when she was 13 years old. Since that time she has always lived near Bruno. Her marriage to Jacob Stava took place in Sts. Peter and Paul church in Abie in 1884. Two sons, Emil F. and Adolph T.,and one daughter, Agnes, were born to this union. Her husband passed away Oct. 26, 1931, and Emil and Agnes also preceded their mother in death, the latter having passed away only two months ago. Mrs. Stava was a charter member of St. Anthony’s parish and was also a charter member of the Czech Catholic Union lodge of St. Anthony’s, two organizations which both celebrated Golden Jubilees on June 13 of last year. She was also a member of the Rosary Society. She was a devout Catholic and a devoted neighbor and friend. The care of her daughter, a semi-invalid for fifty years, was constant and tender and she did everything in her power to make her daughter’s life a happy one. Seven months ago, when the health of his sister and mother became increasingly weaker, their brother and son, Adolph T. Stava, sold his business interests in Rosalie, and came to Bruno to devote his full time to their care and welfare. His sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Stava of Grand Island, spent the last several weeks assisting him. Other survivors include five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Coming from a distance to attend the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Slaby, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hirtzle, Wayne Kubitz and Mrs. Dorothy Forbes, all of Lincoln; Mrs. Katie Kadlececk, Gilbert Novack and Mr. and Mrs. John Sisel of Dwight; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pohl and Louis Mazanec of Chapman; Mrs. Alvin Nitche and Marlene of Hayes Center; Hubert Chloupek of Litchfield; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mazanec and George of Marsland; Fabian Pohl of Gothenburg; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pelan of Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. John Kominek of Colon; Mr. and Mrs. James Bohuslavsky and Mr. and Mrs. John Matousek of Rising City; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dowding and Mrs. Joseph Slonecker of Seward; Mrs. Tekla Pallat of Wahoo; Mr. and Mrs. Ludvik Mazanec and Mrs. Frank Sedlak of Brainard; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Stava, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Stava and Mrs. Adeline Zetocha and children of Grand Island; and Mr. and Mrs. Vladimir Hamata of Schuyler.
