Rink Dates on Tombstone = 1879 - 1958 Parents = John & Bertha (Pagenkof) Rink Obituary The Hooper Sentinel June 19, 1958 Last Rites Are Held For Emil John Rink Emil John Rink, well-known farmer, passed away at Dodge County Community Hospital, Fremont, Friday, June 13th at 8:25 p.m. Mr. Rink was born in Hooper, April 29, 1870, his parents being John Rink and Bertha, nee Pagenkopf. When he was about a year old, his parents moved to a farm five miles northwest of Hooper, where his son, Roland Rink now lives. On this farm, and later on another farm in the immediate vicinity, he spent most of his life. On June 29, 1905, he was married to Fredericke Moeller; and they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1955. In infancy Emil Rink was received into St. John's Lutheran Church by baptism; and he remained a member of this congregation all his life. For many years he served as church organist; and for several years was the secretary of the congregation. He also served his community as a member of the district school board. In 1952 he retired from the farm and moved to Fremont. Three daughters preceded him in death. His passing is mourned by his wife, three sons and two daughters; Mrs. Melvin Havekost (Cornelia) of Davemport, Ia., Mrs. Roy Drasites (Loreta) of Galesburg, Ill.; Edgar and Roland of Hooper, and Herbert of Ames; also 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three brothers: Otto of Scribner; Armold of Calif.; and Edward of Beatrice; and three sisters: Mrs. Alma Borcher and Mrs. Laura Hoye of Omaha; and Mrs. Wm. Spitzmacher, Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were on Tuesday, June 17th at the Wollmer and Warne Funeral Home and St. John's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Armold H. Gebhardt officiating. St. John's quartet sang, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Abide With Me". The members of the quartet are Elmer Schulenberg, Eldon Schulenberg, Raymond Peters and Wm. Moseman Jr. Pallbearers were Paul Sellman, Erwin Borcher, Henry Tuchenhagen, George Moeller, Emil Moeller and Eugene Moeller. Committal was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, northwest of Hooper.
