Had Resided in Fort Benton More Than 40 Years Emil T. Breault, a resident of Fort Benton for more than 43 years, passed away at St. Clare hospital in this city at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, following an illness that had extended over the past four years. During all of that time he had been a semi-invalid, suffering a stroke of paralysis four years ago, which had been followed by others during his illness. He had been at the local hospital for the past month or more, and prior to that time had been cared for at home by his wife. Mr. Breault was known to a large number of the county residents as from 1911 until 1950 he conducted a blacksmith shop in this city, being forced to retire on account of illness in 1950. During that time he had worked for a large number of the ranchers of the county, keeping abreast of the changing conditions of the trade. In the early days it was horseshoeing for a number of years and every farmer needing plow shares sharpened, the two items comprising most of the blacksmith work. With the coming of larger and faster farm machinery, it was other types of work. He was an expert blacksmith, which he acquired through long hard years of experience and long hours during the busier part of the season. Emil T. Breault was born March 7, 1885, at Aurora, Kansas, where he spent his early life and where he served his long term as an apprentice in a blacksmith shop. In 1906 he went to Green Valley, Minn., where he conducted a blacksmith shop, and was also located at Donnybrook, N. D., for a time before coming to Montana in 1910. He took up a homestead in the Highwood bench area after arrival here and in 1911 opened his shop in this city, which he continued to operate. He was united in marriage April 29th, 1912, to Miss Alexina Paradis, of Fort Benton, and the family has continued to reside here. He is survived by his wife, one son, William, Fort Benton; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret A. MacKenzie and Mrs. Florence Siebenaler, both of Fort Benton; and Mrs. Irene Prodger, of Valier; five grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Breault, of Clyde, Kan., and Adhmer Breault of Eureka, Calif. Adhmer Breault homesteaded in the Goosebill area and resided there for some years. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at ten o'clock at the Fort Benton Funeral Home and will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. Morgan.
