Copy of original newspaper clipping, probably from a Franklin, NE, newspaper Mrs. S. Wall. Emma Cora Kent was born November 26, 1863, Thanksgiving day, near Hawleyville, in Taylor county, Iowa. She was born into a christian home and trained in the ways of God from infancy. In her early youth she gave her heart to God and was baptized by her father, a minister in the Christian Advent church. She was a successful school teacher in the schools of Taylor county for several years. On April 15, 1885, she was married to Spencer Wall. To them was born one child, Mary Emma. The year after their marriage they moved to Perkins county, Nebraska, where she shared the cares and deprivations of a homesteader's life. When her husband was elected to the office of county treasurer she acted as his deputy and proved a most expert accountant. In January 1903 they moved to Franklin and here they united with the First Congregational church of which she was a member at the time of her death. She died November 1, 1923, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 6 days. She leaves a brother, Charles Kent of Pacific City, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Alma Matteson of Kinsley, Kans., besides her husband, daughter, son-in-law, six grand children, a nephew and a niece. She was of a quiet, retiring disposition, always placing others before herself and only those who knew her well could get any idea of her worth in the community in which she lived. She cared for her father-in-law and her own mother thru the last years of their lives with wonderful tenderness and patience. Her entire life was one of loving service and of great happiness in her home and in her God. Her faith was unwavering through all the trials and adversities of life. She ever looked forward with joy and hope the coming of the Savior. Almost her last words, "I will meet you" and then fell asleep in Jesus. "Even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him." Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Ps. 116-15. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the home in the north part of town with Rev. P.J. Thiel in charge and the body was laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery. Card of Thanks.
