Description	:	Mrs. Henry Dunn, a resident of Van Buren County since 1849, was stricken with apoplexy at her home three miles southeast of Utica on the evening of July 10th, 1917, and never regained consciousness, passing away quietly the next night. Her many friends hastened to her bedside and the children and relatives from far and near were summoned; but nothing could stay the hand of the grim reaper. Emily Jane Nixon, daughter of Samuel and Rachael Nixon, was born on January 1, 1847, in Wayne County, Ohio, and at the age of two years came to Iowa with her parents. On January 1, 1867, she was united in marriage to henry C. Dunn, of Van Buren County, who died June 23, 1911. To this union were born six children, Samuel Lewis, who died at the age of eight years, Mrs. Ira Cox, of Albany, Ore; Mrs. A.M. Marriott, of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. W.L. Beswick , of Hobson, Mont.; and G.A. Dunn, of Hobson, Mont; and John Wesley, of this community. Seventeen grandchildren and six brothers, Jacob, Moses, George, Alonzo, Ezra, and Julius survive her. At an early age she united with the Baptist Church. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and a thoughtful friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is at rest and the loss is ours. Owing to the delay in the arrival of the daughter from Oregon, the funeral was not held until Monday morning, and was conducted by Rev. G.W. Fogg, pastor of the Baptist Churches at Hillsboro and Utica, assisted by Rev. J.W. Stine, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Stockport and Utica. A large crowd of her late friends filled the church. Interment was had in the Dibble Cemetery. Members of the family who came from a distance to attend the funeral services were as follows: Mrs. R. Cox of Albany, Oregon; Mrs. L.W. Beswick; and Mrs. G.A. Dunn and two children of Hobson, Montana; and Mrs. A.N. Marriott and two children of Des Moines.
