Doctors had just finished the removal of her appendix when she suddendly expired, death being caused by the effects of the anesthetic on her system -a thing that very seldom happens. Miss Steinbrink had been ill for a short time with attacks of appendicitis and was sent to Holdreg Saturday morning for examination. During the afternoon her condition became worse and it was necessary to operate that same evening. Her parents were sent for and were with her during the operation. Ruth Emily Steinbrink was born at Elwood November 5, 1903, and died at the Holdrege hospital March 24, 1928, age 24 years, 4 months and 10 days. She received her high school education and graduated with the class of 1925 from the Elwood high school. At the age of 20 years she untited with the Christian church of Elwood. She had a kind and loving disposition and was loved by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Steinbrink; five brothers and six sisters; James C., George H., Leo E., Chas. F., Earl P., Mrs. Emil Dreher, Mrs. Brooks Laughter, Mrs. Dewey Smith, Mrs. C. H. Dreher, Elda and Velma, and a host of relatives and friends. All of the immediate relatives were present at the funeral services except Mrs. Brooks Laughter, of Houston, Texas, who was unable to attend. Short services were held at the home at one o'clock and at the Christian church at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Martins, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge of the services.
