Description	:	Emma A., daughter of William and Sarah Benedict was born in Eldorado, Fond du, Lac County, Wisconsin, August 12, 1862. As a child, she came with her parents to Quincy, Iowa and with the exception of a few years in which the family lived in Blair, Nebraska, the village of Quincy was home to her until after her marriage to Chas. As a child, she came with her parents to Quincy, Iowa and with the exception of a few years in which the family lived in Blair, Nebraska, the village of Quincy was home to her until after her marriage to Chas. Lawrence which occurred October 18, 1885. To this union 10 children were born, two of whom departed this life in infancy, the living are Nellie, Ward, Ella, Ruth, George, Ernest, Harold, and Addie. After residing in the vicinity of Brooks for a few years, the family moved in 1900 to Pacific Junction, Wisconsin and seven years later returned to Iowa, making their home near Nodaway. In 1917, the family again took up their residence in the community of Brooks. In 1925, Mrs. Lawrence and her son, George, took up their residence in Nodaway and until 15 months ago that was home to them. Since then, because of failing health, she has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.. Lee Mitchell northeast of Guss. Mrs. Lawrence was a kind and loving wife and mother, a devoted and industrious home maker, a good neighbor, and loyal friend. She united with the Methodist Church in early life and always maintained an abiding faith in the principles of Christ. She was preceded into the Great Beyond by her devoted husband in 1915. For a number of years, Mrs. Lawrence has been in failing health and about a week ago she was stricken with a malady which regardless of the care of loving hands and medical skill, she failed to improve and finally slipped quietly away to her eternal rest, November 15, 1938, being the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 3 days, leaving to mourn her departure her children, Mrs. Nellie Agnew of Nodaway, Ward E. and Mrs. Ella Meyers of Corning, Ernest and Mrs. Addie Brown of Brooks, Harold of Chicago, and Mrs. Ruth Mitchell and George of Nodaway, 18 grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, besides these, many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, by Z. M. Bressler in the Brooks Church. The Nodaway quartets furnished the music. Grandsons of the deceased acted as pall bearers.
