John Clark was born on the 15th of August 1813, in Coshocton County, the son of Samuel 1773-1853 & Rachel [Clark] Clark 1773-1854. Elizabeth Nevius Skillman was born on the 13th of March, 1819, near Pennington, New Jersey, parents unknown, John and Elizabeth Clark married on the 3rd of February, 1842, and had eleven children; James Ashbury Clark 1842-1926, married Lavina Hoagland 15 February, 1872, had 6 children; Mary Wilhelmina Clark 1844-1914, married Joseph Treadway 15 September, 1869, had 5 children; Margaret Jane Clark, born about 1845, Thomas Clark, born about 1846; Isaac Melville Clark 1848-1921, married Sarah Skillman, had one daughter; John Anderson Clark 1851-1935, married Catherine Elizabeth Boyd; Catherine Ann Clark, born about 1853; Emma Augusta Clark 1855-1929, married Nathan Reid Shannon, had 8 children; Elizabeth "Lizzie Clark; Henry Nevius Clark; and Edward Eldredge Clark. The father, John Clark, died on the 25th of June, 1888, in Bethlehem township, Coshocton County, Ohio. The mother, Elizabeth, died on the 2nd of April, 1889, she and he husband, John are buried in the Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Coshocton County, Ohio. * Emma Augusta Clark married Nathan Reid Shannon on the 8th of November, 1877 in Coshocton County, Ohio. They had eight children; John Earl 1879-1967, married Nellie M. Adams; Florence Mildred 1880-1957, married George F. Whittemore; Sarah Elizabeth 1884-1948, married Labon R. Headington; Mary Edna 1886-1964, married Clifford H. Boyd; Nathan Clark 1888-1970, married Dorothy Eleanor Wood; Carrie Love 1890-1935; Neva Emma 1892-1968, married Chester M. NATHAN R. SHANNON, KEENE TP., SUMMONED ~ Mrs. Nathan R Shannon, aged 73, died at her home three miles north of Keene Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock of heart disease. She had been in failing health for the last few years. Her husband preceded her to the grave 17 years ago. Emma A Clark was born in Clark tp., the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Clark, and spent her entire life in this county. Mrs. Shannon was a faithful member of the Keene Presbyterian Church. There are surviving the following children; Carrie and Frank Shannon of the late home, Earl, Mrs. George Whitmore and Mrs. Clifford Boyd, all of Keene, Mrs. Laban Headington of Cuyahoga Falls, Clark Shannon of Lorraine, and Mrs. Chester Boyd of Cleveland. Three brothers, John Clark of Blissfield, Henry Clark of Ottawa, Kansas, and Edward Clark of Keene, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. George Stewart at the Presbyterian Church at Keene Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. The cortege will leave the late home at 10:30 o'clock.
