Description	:	Daughter of Horace W. Young and Eliza Ann Tankersley. Wife of Frederick Crump. Emma Young was born at Terre Haute, Indiana, February 16, 1862. She came with her parents to Concordia, Kansas, in 1879. On November 20, 1881, she was married to Fred Crump. They lived near Concordia until 1883, when they moved to a farm near Chester. She has been a resident of this community for 70 years. In 1911, she and her husband came to the present home in Chester. Emma Young was born at Terre Haute, Indiana, February 16, 1862. She came with her parents to Concordia, Kansas, in 1879. On November 20, 1881, she was married to Fred Crump. They lived near Concordia until 1883, when they moved to a farm near Chester. She has been a resident of this community for 70 years. In 1911, she and her husband came to the present home in Chester. In 1891 Mrs. Crump joined the Methodist Church and has proved herself a faithful member through the years. She was a worker in the Ladies Aid Society. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred who passed away in June 1944 and one son, Marion L. Crump who died in December, 1913. She is survived by one son, Harry E. Crump who lives in Sheridan, Wyo; two grand daughters, Mrs. Ivan Johnson of Humboldt and Mrs. Evtrett (sic) Heier of Alvo and five great grandchildren. She was a kind and devoted mother, a good neighbor and faithful friend. Funeral services were from the Chester Methodist Church on June 3, 1953, at 10 a.m. A quartet made up of Mrs. Lawrence Eickman, Mrs. Fred Duey, Max Larkins and G.D. Van Cleef sang, accompanied by Mrs. F.C. Haifleigh. Pallbearers were: Ed Boyleston, Chester Sawyer, Will Throne, Joe Duey, Raymond Atwood and Eugene Woodward. Rev. James K. Irwin officiated.
