Description	:	Emma Kate Freeze was born May 7, 1861, in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, the last of 10 children of Michael and Susanna Wetzel Freeze. She was also the granddaughter of John George and Susanna Bowers Freeze. On October 19, 1881, in Thurmont, she married George Allen Eyler, son of Theodore Nathaniel and Caroline Wilhide Eyler. They were the parents of 2 daughters: Marie Augusta and Blanche Susan Eyler. Emma passed away October 28, 1933, in Thurmont, and was buried on the 31st in Weller's Church Cemetery there. Marriage date per James McGuigan's ledger (Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland): "October 19th, 1881: Allen Eyler married to Emma Freeze, daughter of Michael Freeze." From the Frederick News of Friday, October 23, 1931: "Married 50 Years. Mr. and Mrs. George Allen Eyler of Thurmont, on Monday, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home on Carroll Street extended, where they have lived ever since their marriage. Mrs. Eyler before her marriage was Miss Emma Kate Freeze, daughter of the late Michael Freeze. She and Mr. Eyler were married October 19, 1881, in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Thurmont, by Rev. W. C. Wire. They have two daughters, Mrs. W. E. Williams, South Orange, New Jersey, and Miss Blanche Eyler, at home. During the day, friends and neighbors called to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Eyler. Mr. and Mrs. Williams also attended the event, their wedding date likewise having been October 19." Obituary for Emma Kate Freeze Eyler from the Frederick Post of Monday, October 30, 1933: "Mrs. Emma Kate Eyler, wife of George Eyler, Thurmont, died Saturday night at 10:20 o'clock after a short illness of paralysis, 72 years of age. She was stricken at her home Friday and did not regain consciousness. Mrs. Eyler was a daughter of the late Michael and Susan Freeze and was a life long resident of Thurmont and vicinity. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Marie Williams, South Orange, Long Island, and Miss Blanche Eyler, at home. She was the last member of her immediate family. Funeral Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from late home with services by Rev. C. H. Corbett, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment in the U. B. Cemetery, Thurmont. Wilhide and Creeger, funeral directors." Obituary for Emma Kate Freeze Eyler from the Catoctin Clarion of Friday, November 3, 1933: "Local Resident Expires. She was stricken at her home Friday and did not regain consciousness. Mrs. Eyler was a daughter of the late Michael and Susan Freeze, and was a lifelong resident of Thurmont and vicinity. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Marie Williams, South Orange, N. J., and Miss Blanche Eyler, at home. She was the last member of her immediate family. Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, from her late home with services by Rev. C. H. Corbett, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment in the U. B. Cemetery, Thurmont. Messrs. W. L. H. Zentz, Harry Simmers, Bruce Dotterer, Charles Addison, W. S. Pryor, and H. M. Freeze acted as pall bearers. Willhide & Creeger, funeral directors."
