Read More	Progress Review, La Porte City, Iowa Thursday, February 21, 1952, Page 7 Emma Wilson Passed Away at Waterloo Friday Services Held Here Monday Afternoon: Burial in West View The final summon of death came Friday afternoon to Mrs. Emma Wilson in St. Francis hospital, Waterloo at the age of 84 years. Complications incident to old age and heart disease were the cause of death. She had been in poor health for several years and in a declining condition since last fall. Emma Louise Van Brocklin was born the daughter of William R. and Loretta Amanda (Bolton) Van Brocklin, July 27, 1867, near Freeport, Ill. Moved to Iowa When she was five years old the family came to Iowa and settled on a farm southeast of La Porte City in Benton county, where she attained womanhood. On Nov. 25, 1886, she was united in marriage to William Wilson of Mt. Auburn. Two daughter and one son were born to the couple and survived. They are Mrs. Mayme Petersen of Waterloo, Mrs. Harry Kober of Mesa, Ariz., and Arthur Wilson of Waterloo. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Henry Purdy of La Porte City. Mr. Wilson died March 20 1943, Others who preceded her in death were her parents, one brother, one sister in infancy, and one grandson. Mrs. Wilson and her husband farmed in the La Porte City community after their marriage and near Bristow for a few years before retiring and moving to La Porte City. For the past eight years Mrs. Wilson had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Peterson in Waterloo. Services Monday Funeral services were held at the Johannsen Funeral home at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Oliver Jensen, pastor of the local Methodist church, of which she had been a member for many years and attended as long as physically able, conducted the service. Mrs. Oliver Jensen, accompanied by Mrs. Clifford Burr, sang “In the Garden” and “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go.” Casket bearers were nephews George Wilson, Clifford Wilson and Arthur Wilson of Mt. Auburn and Frank Wilson, Robert Studebaker and Waldo Wilson. Interment was in the family lot in West View cemetery. Those coming from out of town for the funeral were Mrs. Arthur Wilson and daughters Jean and Joan, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Wilson, Mrs. Mayme Petersen, Mrs. Green and Mr. and Mrs. Vernal Arthur, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Gladen Miller and Marilyn and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Petersen, Orange and Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wilson, Mt. Auburn.
