Read More	Dayton Review October 16, 1930 Obituary Emma Myers was born October 2, 1857, at Bishop Hill, Henry County, Illinois, and passed away at her home in Dayton last Friday morning, October 10, 1830, at the age of 73 years and 8 days. In 1860, she went with her parents to New Philadelphia, Ohio. From there they came in 1873 to this county, settling in Burnside township, then called Sumner township. There she was united in marriage, November 2, 1875, to Swan Alfred Norstrum, and began life together on the old farm in the west part of the township, where their active lives were spent. In 1908, they built the present home in Dayton, where the remainder of their lives were spent. To Mr. and Mrs. Norstrum were born seven children, five sons and two daughters. Two children, Victor F. and Mabel preceded them in death. Her husband also passed away November 12th last year. She is survived by a daughter and four sons: Albert Norstrum and Mrs. Matilda Intermill of Bruce, S. Dak.; Frank and Charles Norstrum of Burnside; and Gilbert Norstrum of Casper, Wyoming. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ida Bartholmew of Tyler, Texas, and three brothers, John Myers of Shreveport, Louisiana, Louis Myers of Texarkana, Texas, and William Myers of Burnside. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Norstrum was the true type of the pioneer mother. Her life was ever an example in the home, and her deep interest was always with her loved ones, giving them her every care and love. Among her neighbors, she took a deep interest in their welfare and their happiness was ever part of the pioneer life of the prairie, to which she contributed her share in the building of the better things of life. Everyone, young and old, found in her a friend. The gathering of the old friends and neighbors at her funeral was a fitting tribute of the high regard which they held of her active days among them. Her funeral was held Monday afternoon from the M. E. Church, of which she had been a faithful member, her pastor, Rev. Karl W. G. Hiller, in charge. A quartette sang "Face to Face," "The City Four Square," and 'We Shall Sleep but Not Forever." Neighbors around the old home community served as pallbearers, and burial was made beside her husband in Dayton cemetery. Together they rest in the peace that passeth understanding.
