Emma Miklas was born June 30, 1902, to Wenzel and Nettie (Bartosh) Miklas of rural Dodge. She received her education in Dodge and was employed in the Roper Loan Office and then in the Art Raabe Insurance Office. She married Henry Parr June 30, 1931, in Dodge. Read More	DODGE -- Emma Parr, 99, of Dodge died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Emma Miklas was born June 30, 1902, to Wenzel and Nettie (Bartosh) Miklas of rural Dodge. She received her education in Dodge and was employed in the Roper Loan Office and then in the Art Raabe Insurance Office. She married Henry Parr June 30, 1931, in Dodge. After marriage, they lived in Dodge until 1935 when they moved to Snyder, where they opened a chicken hatchery and feed store. In 1940, they moved the business to Dodge and operated it until 1951 when it was sold. They then purchased the Dodge Liquor Store. He died Dec. 19, 1963. She remained living in Dodge until becoming a resident of St. Joseph Retirement Community in West Point in May 1997. Her "claim to fame" was being listed in the "Better Homes and Garden's" Quilting magazine. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 122 of Dodge and was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and its Altar Society and Christian Mothers' Society. Survivors include: a son, Arthur (and wife, Dorothy) Parr of Molokai, Hawaii; two daughters, Joan (Mrs. Al) Brune of Dodge and Janet (Mrs. Larry) Ulrich of West Point; a sister, Rose Kovarik of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister and a brother. The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. The Rev. Dan Wittrock will officiate. Visitation is 2:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the church. A rosary will be said at 3 p.m. by the Altar Society and Christian Mothers' Society and at 7 p.m. for the public, both at the church. A prayer service is 10 a.m. Monday at Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in rural Dodge.
