Schnee Miss Emma Schnee, age 85, of Orange City, passed away Sunday, January 31, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, with the Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Reicks officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City. Emma was born November 25,1907 at Alton, the daughter of William Francis and Anna Mary (Henrich) Schnee. She was raised at Alton, where she graduated from St. Mary's Academy. She also attended nursing school at Sacred Heart Hospital (now Floyd Valley Hospital)in Le Mars, graduating as a registered nurse in 1930. During World War II, she was accepted as a Red Cross nurse. For 20 years, she was a nurse at the Doornink Hospital in Orange City. In 1950, when that hospital closed, she became a private nurse in area homes. She was employed by Dr. Van Eldink in Orange City from 1955 to 1357, and then was a nurse at the Grossmann Hospital in Orange City. In 1959, she transferred to the Orange City Medical Clinic, semi-retiring in 1973. She has since served as a "home helper" to many elderly persons. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a charter member of the Just Another Club, and a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club. Survivors include her two sisters, Mrs, John R. (Adelia) Reinders of Orange City; and Mrs. Oscar (Florence) Klein of Westfield, New Jersey; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Clara Adler, Ida Gansemer, Rose Vonderhaar, Cornelia Schnee, and her twin, Rita Schnee; and two brothers, Albert and Henry Schnee.
