Democrat, Friday, November 20, 1942 Alton Couple Lived 50 Years On Same Farm Mr. and Mrs. Schnee Celebrate Their Golden Wedding Married Nov, l5th 1892,Mr. and Mrs. William Schnee (nee Anna Henrich)of Alton have lived all their married life of fifty years on the Schnee farm just north of Alton. Both were born in Wisconsin, but did not become acquainted until after their pioneer parents moved to the Alton vicinity, where the boy and girl became neighbors. They were married at St. Mary's church by Father Luehrsmann. Mr. Schnee is how 72 years and Mrs. Schnee 70 years of age. The latter has had a remarkable recovery from the fall in which she fractured her hip. and thereafter was in the hospital for many months. She now gets about with the aid of a cane. Mr. and Mrs. Schnee are parents of a splendid family of ten children, who are—Mrs. George Adler (Clara) of Howard, S.D.; Mrs. Albert Ganzemer (Ida) of Sheldon; Albert, now in charge of the home farm; Mrs. A. R. Tanderharr, Dell Rapid,S. D.; Cornelia, in charge of the home; Henry of Remsen; the twin daughters, Emma and Rita, staff nurses at the Doornink Hospital, in Orange City; Mrs. Johnny Reinders (Adelia), Orange City; Florence, teaching at Blencole, Ia. All the children and their families were home for the memorable event; also all of Mrs. Schnee's sisters and brothers except Joe Henrich of Madison, Minn., and Sister M. Cornelia of Dubuque, who were recent visitors here. These included Mr. and Mrs. John Henrich, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Henrich of Madison, Minn., Miss Clara Henrich Mr. and Mrs. Nick Henrich of Alton. Jos. Schnee of Sioux City, Mr. Schnee's only surviving brother, was not able to be present. Other guests were Mrs. Olivia Linden of Sioux City, Mr .and Mr. D. N. Jungers of Hospers; Mrs. John Reith of Granville. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haag of Alton. Many friends called during the open house hours from two to five and the honored couple also enjoyed the many cards and telegrams of congrat-ulation received from relatives and friends on the memor-able event. ____________________________________________________________ Taken from The Sioux County Capital, Orange City, Sioux County, Iowa, April 6, 1944. WILLIAM F. SCHNEE Wm. Schnee, age 73 years of Alton, died at his home of a heart attack Friday evening. Mr. Schnee was born on the place on which he died, formerly the home of his parents and his home during his entire life time. He leaves his widow, six daughters and two sons to survive. Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Mary's church.
