They will be home from 2 o'clock in the afternoon until 10 o'clock in the evening. Emma Shirley and Frank Allen were married in Rapid City a the home of Mr and Mrs Will Barber, on April 28, 1889, by Reverend Hancher, who later was head of the Hot Springs college. Mr and Mrs Barber were the attendants. The bride wore a brown dress, trimmed with bead work and fringe, she recalls. Mrs Allen's brother, Will Shirley, a former Deadwood resident, brought the first train into Chadron, Nebraska, as engineer. Mr Allen has been interested in various mining properties and projects in and around Deadwood for the past thirty-five years. He was connected with the Lucky Strike at one time, and still is interested in several properties. The Allens had six children, three of whom have died. Two daughters, Mrs John Treweek and Mrs John Barry, live in Lead, and another daughter, Mrs John Julius, lives in Alliance, Nebraska. They have nine grandchildren, Mrs Delores Babcock, La Oroya, Peru; Patricia, Beverly and Betty Treweek, of Lead; Irene Treweek, Chicago; Mrs Harold J Shea, Lead; Allan Bemis, Glorieta, New Mexico; Jack Julius and Yvonne Julius, Alliance, Nebraska, and three great grandchildren, Joan Shea, Lead; Shirley Ann and Florence Bemis, Glorieta, New Mexico. Four generations will be represented at the open house with Mr and Mrs Allen, their daughter, Mrs Barry; granddaughter, Mrs Shea, and great-granddaughter, Joan Shea. Out-of-town guests expected to be present include Mrs Julius and Mr and Mrs Chester Martin and family, of Newell. Mrs Martin and Mrs Allen are sisters. Mrs Allen has been bedfast for the past six years. Mrs Allen came to Deadwood to live in 1906 and was a resident of the city until about two years after the death of her husband, the late Frank Allen on July 1, 1944. The former Emma Shirley, she was married in St Joseph, Missouri in 1889. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs John E Berry, Rapid City and Mrs John L Julius, Alliance, Nebraska, and a nephew Frank Martin, Deadwood. Mrs Allen was a member of the Deadwood Order of Eastern Star and the Deadwood Methodist church. The body is at the Wells Funeral home. Funeral rites are pending.
