Oliver Barnes of Cumberland, suffered the loss of his right thumb and Elmer McElroy of cumberland and John Dougherty of massena were bruised when mcElroy's model T Ford car, driven by neary, left the road at a curve and plunged over a 7 foot embankment. Neary's death was tentatively attribued to a heart attack, suffered either before or in the crash. he was known to have been susceptible to such attacks and according to I M Hodges, Cumberland Undertaker, suffered no outward injuries in the accident, altho Mr. hodges said there may have been internal injuries. The accident occurred shortly after 9 oclock Sunday night while the four men were returning from a trip to Corning. they were taken to Corning after the crash and mr. Neary's body was sent here today. Mr. Hodges said he understood Adams Co Coroner Boyd roland was planning no inquest. Mr Neary was born Oct 22 1879 on a farm south of Cumberland and had spent all his life in this vicinity. He was a son of Patrick and Ann Neary. Surviving are his wife, the former Anna McMenamin and three children, Mrs Beatrice Pinckert and Joe Neary of St Louis Mo., and Leo of Cumberland. Funeral services will be held at 10 oclock Wednesday morning at the Reno Catholic church, south of here, and burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. D D Dower will officiate.
