Lena Mardorf of Monticello died Tuesday, Nov. 16,1999 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness. Engelena Caspers was born Dec. 28,1904 in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, the daughter of Andrew F. W. and Henrietta Husmann Caspers. She received her education in Castle Grove Township School #2. In February of 1928, she married Gerhard Mardorf at SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church. The couple farmed for seven years in Lovell Township on the Mardorf family farm. They later purchased a farm in Wayne Township, Jones County. She moved to Monticello in 1953 and in September of 1987 she moved to the Senior Home. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and the ELCW. She Was baptized and confirmed at SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church. Surviving is her sister, Margaret Stadtmueller of Monticello, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard, on June 20, 1948; her sons, Dean and Fred; seven brothers: Peter, Herman, John, Tobe, Henry, Fred and Carl Caspers, and two sisters, Katie Tobiason and Anna Moenk.
