John Gerhard Caspers was born Sept 10, 1889, near Scotch Grove, the son of Andrew and Jetta Husmann Caspers. He married Mary Burrack, Jan. 18, 1922, and they farmed in the Monticello community. He served with the armed forces during World War 1. Mr. Caspers was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Mable) Oltmann of Hopkinton and Mrs. Gilbert (Lois) Hearn of Monticello and four grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Katie) Tobiason, Mrs. Lena Mardorf and Mrs. Alva (Margaret) Stadtmueller, all of Monticello; four brothers, Peter of Anamosa, Tobe, Henry and Fred all of Monticello. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and one sister.
