Description	:	TRAUTMAN, EPHRAIM — Ephraim Trautman was born to Fredrick Trautman and Elizabeth Schmidt Trautman on December 7, 1910, at Sutton, and passed away on June 30, 1985, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 23 days. Read More	TRAUTMAN, EPHRAIM — Ephraim Trautman was born to Fredrick Trautman and Elizabeth Schmidt Trautman on December 7, 1910, at Sutton, and passed away on June 30, 1985, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 23 days. He was one of eight children in the family. He farmed in Fillmore and Clay county area for a number of years. He then moved to Geneva and worked as cemetery sexton. Later he was employed as railroad laborer and by Koehler’s Turkey Farm, Chaney Implements, and he retired from the Fillmore County Shop. He was a registered auctioneer, graduating from the auctioneering school in Mason City, Ia. He was married to Ethel Marjorie Dejung of Glenvil on August 17, 1935, and to them eight children were born. In the late 1940’s Ephraim played with dance bands, continuing this into the early 50’s. He loved music and dancing and in later years at the Fairview Manor, he enjoyed playing recorded music for his friends. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents; by sons, Fredrick David and Larry Roger of Geneva; four sisters, Bertha Fidler, Emma Frantz, both of Geneva, and Frieda Klien of Sutton and Sarah Beck of Bellingham, Wash.; by three brothers, Ruben, William and Theodore Trautman, all of Sutton. In October, 1976, he lost his loving wife of 41 years, Ethel. He is survived by four daughters, Betty M. Witherwax and husband, Ronald, of Grand Island, Linda Slapnicka and husband, Franklin, of Geneva, Sandra Ladd and husband, Lester, of Fremont and Ruth Ann Casper and husband, Harold, of Exeter; two sons, Steven Trautman and wife, Mary Lou, of Scottsbluff and Dayle Trautman and wife, Gloria, of Dallas, Tex.; 16 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Tuesday, July 2, with the Rev. Bill Ritter of Shickley officiating. Pallbearers were Charles Barbur Jr., Melvin Whiteley, Larry Trautman, Roger Slapnicka, Edwin Trautman and Brad Slapnicka. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
