Parker Erasmus Parker, a highly respected citizen of Shelby county, died at his home near Oak Dale Sept. 11, 1919, after a short illness of cholera morbus. He had been in ill health for some time and the last attack from which death resulted, was the second within a week. Mr. Parker was born in Shelby county Sept. 28, 1856, and was 62 years 11 months and 13 days old at the time or death. For the past fifteen years he has operated a sawmill near Oak Dale. Prior to that time he followed farming and formerly lived on a farm near Lakenan. In 1879 he was married to Charlotte Hightower and to this union were born four children, three of whom are living. Mrs. Parker died about eight years ago. The surviving children are Thomas C. Parker, Mrs. Eva Duncan and Mrs. Mildred Ridings, all ot this county. A son Augustus, died at two years of age. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters, all of whom were with him in his last hours except one sister who is in Montana. Mr. Parker was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge No. 96 A. F. & A. M. at Shelbyville and also of the M. W. A. lodge at Oak Dale. The funeral was held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Mt. Olive church in Kendall, conducted by Rev. L. F. Parker, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there.
