Description	:	Erma Lorraine Stephens, 90, of Oakland, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland. Born September 1, 1930, in Bittinger, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Melda (Schrock) Opel. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Stephens; one son, David Stephens; one great-grandson, Corey Stephens; two brothers, Vernon and Park Opel and three sisters, Bernice Baker, Viola Yommer, and Nora Evans. Read More	Erma Lorraine Stephens, 90, of Oakland, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland. Born September 1, 1930, in Bittinger, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Melda (Schrock) Opel. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Stephens; one son, David Stephens; one great-grandson, Corey Stephens; two brothers, Vernon and Park Opel and three sisters, Bernice Baker, Viola Yommer, and Nora Evans. Mrs. Stephens was the secretary for Mt. Top Paving. She was a member of Meadow Mountain Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and sang in the Ladies Choir. Erma enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball with her family, quilting and making blankets for people in need. She loved cooking every Sunday after church for her family and "anyone who came by". Surviving are three sons, James C. (Lori) Stephens, Jr, Bittinger, Michael E. (Helen) Stephens and Bradley R. Stephens, all of Oakland; one daughter, Carolyn S. (John) Beckman, Oakland; one brother, Don Opel, Grantsville; seven sisters, Jean DeWitt, Oakland, Thelma Yoder, Eva Miller and Hazel Maust, all of Accident; Marie Eisentrout, Beaverdam, VA, JoAnn Bender, Kalona, IA and June McCann, Albright, WV. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jimmy, III, Lisa, Jennifer, Kristin, David, Josh, Cindy, John David, Jared, Justin, Matthew, Sarah, Nathan and A.J.; 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland on Monday from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Glade Mennonite Church with Pastor Ron Beiler officiating.
