Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. The Rev. Don Swanson will officiate. Casket bearers will be Bill Umlandt, Josh Umlandt, Gary Umlandt, Alan Ricketts, Robert Sloat and Ed Ziegenhorn. Burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in her name. Erma was born on November 16, 1918, in Drury Township, Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of Benjamin and Ella Mae Dunker Ziegenhorn. She married Kenneth LeRoy Fowler on August 25, 1943, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and wedding coordinator. She was a member of the Ayeta Class and the Ladies Missionary Circle. She enjoyed gardening, embroidering, baking pies and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Joyce Darnall and husband, Doyle, of Humboldt; a son, Larry Fowler and wife, Mary, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Joelle Brackin, Joleen Poyner and husband, Joel, Johnna Darnall, Maranda Leadon and Jessica Fowler; two great-grandchildren, Schuyler Leadon and Kaydon Leadon; two sisters, Evelyn Metcalf of Bettendorf, and Betty Whitney and husband, A.J., of Muscatine; and a brother, Howard Ziegenhorn and wife, Mildred, of Lakeland, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandchildren, William Robert Fowler and Lauren Rae Fowler; two sisters, Mary Ricketts and Marjorie Sloat; and two brothers, Melvin and Ernest Ziegenhorn.
