Description	:	Marjorie E. Sloat, 82, Muscatine, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City. The Rev. Dan Schoepf will officiate. Casket bearers are Paul Martin, Jim Shoemaker, John Gredell, Ed Davis, Larry Fowler and Don Johnson. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Calvary Church, Muscatine. Mrs. Sloat was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Mercer County, Ill., the daughter of Benjamin F. and Ella M. Dunker Ziegenhorn. She married Eddie Sloat on Oct. 15, 1950, in Mercer County. She worked at H.J. Heinz in the late 40's and after marriage became a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Church and the Women's Missionary Group. She taught several Bible study classes and volunteered at the nursing home. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, making quilts, canning vegetables from her husband's garden and was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors include a daughter, Vanessa L. Burch and husband Murphy of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a son, Robert W. Sloat and wife Julie of Muscatine; two granddaughters, Emilie and Rebecca; a brother, Howard Ziegenhorn and wife Mildred of Florida; four sisters, Erma Fowler of Muscatine, Evelyn Metcalf of Bettendorf, Mary Ricketts of Illinois City, Ill. and Betty Whitney and husband A.J. of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 22, 1992; and two brothers, Melvin Ziegenhorn and Ernest Ziegenhorn.
