Ernest was born December 10, 1927 in Herman, Nebraska to Otto and Hattie (Wilder) Christ. He grew up at Lyons and farmed there for many years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from February 6, 1952 until November 5, 1953. He earned the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars. Read More	***************************************** Ernest "Ernie" F. Christ, 86 years, of Fremont, Nebraska, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont. Ernest was born December 10, 1927 in Herman, Nebraska to Otto and Hattie (Wilder) Christ. He grew up at Lyons and farmed there for many years. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from February 6, 1952 until November 5, 1953. He earned the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars. Ernest married Wilma McPherran on June 13, 1954 at Wayne, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in 1973. He moved to Fremont in 1954 and began working for Hormel. He married Lynda Weeks in 1975 at First United Methodist Church in Fremont they later divorced. Ernie retired in 1989. He enjoyed the Fremont Friendship Center, dancing, riding motorcycles hunting and fishing and spending time with family. He was a former member of the Fremont Eagles Club #200. Survivors include his sons, Steve Christ of Fremont, Nebraska, Todd and wife, Marsha Christ and Chad Christ and significant other Nicole Lathrop all of Fremont, and Harold "Buck" and wife Becky Christ of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Elma and husband, Rick Van Buren of Scribner, Nebraska; brothers, Albert Christ of Lyons, Nebraska, and Gerald and wife Connie Christ of Fremont; sisters, Ramona Bales of West Point, Nebraska and Clarabell Hankins of Homer, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma; son, Michael Christ: brothers, Art, Emil, Clarence, Henry, and Gene Christ and sister, Mildred Biggio. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday February 13, 2014 at Fremont Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Tom Shaw will officiate. Visitation will be 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Thursday 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post # 854 and American Legion Post #20. at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont, NE. Memorials may be directed to Fremont Church of the Nazarene or to the Fremont Friendship Center. (mosermemorialchapels.com)
