Gerald was born May 23, 1935 in Decatur, NE to Otto and Hattie (Wilder) Christ. He grew up at Lyons, NE. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from Sept. 7, 1955 to June 2, 1975. "JC" Christ, 81 years of Fremont, NE died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Fremont Health Medical Center. Gerald was born May 23, 1935 in Decatur, NE to Otto and Hattie (Wilder) Christ. He grew up at Lyons, NE. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from Sept. 7, 1955 to June 2, 1975. After his discharge, he moved to Fremont. Gerald married Connie Carnahan on May 22, 1994 in Fremont. He was previously employed as a truck driver for Central States Trucking, Diers Supply and for Ron Bauermeister, retiring in 2007. Gerald was a member of the Fremont Shrine Club and former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 of Fremont. He enjoyed playing pool and played on the Eagles State Pool Tourney and was on several leagues. He also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by wife, Connie; step-daughter, Beth Carnahan and special friend, Matt Carlson of Fremont; brother, Albert Christ of West Point, NE; sisters, Ramona Bales of West Point and Clarabell Hankins of Homer, NE; numerous nieces and nephews; and the apple of his eye, Miss Kyndall. He was preceded in death by parents; brothers Art, Emil, Clarence, Gene, Ernie and Henry Christ; sister, Mildred Biggio; and niece, Connie Gonsor. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Pastor Bruce Leisy officiating. Visitation on Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Visitation on Saturday 1 hour prior to service. Military honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20 will be conducted at the funeral home following the service. A private committal will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont." Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, Nebraska.
