| Description | : | Ernest, the son of Henry N. and Harriet (Coon) Tyler, moved from Vermont becoming a resident of Harrison County, Iowa in March, 1867. Ernest attended school in Dunlap, Iowa and graduated from the Iowa Agricultural College in Ames in 1878 with the degree of civil engineer. He established a real estate abstract business in 1880 and made the first complete set of abstract books in Harrison County. According to an entry in the Logan (Iowa) History, Ernest established the Harrison County Abstract Company in that city in 1886-1887.
