Read More	Ernest Hoyt Thayer, 1865-1933 Funeral Service Held For Pioneer Settler – E. H. Thayer Came To Greeley County 58 Years Ago. – Funeral services for E. H. Thayer were held at the Wolbach Methodist Church at 2 p.m. last Saturday. Services were conducted by Rev. H. A. Feldman of Wolbach and Rev. Primrose of St. Paul. The latter preaching the sermon. Besides being a brother Mason, Rev. Primrose had in common with Mr. Thayer the experience of a boyhood spent in pioneer life, his folks having settled near the present site of Primrose some time after Mr. Thayer came to Greeley county with his parents. The attendance at the funeral was very large, many coming from O'Connor and Brayton vicinities to say their last respects to an old neighbor and friend. Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery. Members of the local Masonic Lodge and some visiting brothers attended in a group. Pall bearers were, Ernest Hansen, W. R. Studley, Ash Marco, R. D. Miller, F. E. McCormick and L. E. Loomer. -- Came to County in 1875 – Ernest Hoyt Thayer was born Sept. 26, 1865 in Jefferson county Wisconsin. His early childhood was spent in Iowa, and he came to Greeley county, Nebraska with his parents in 1875 at the age of 9. May 13, 1889 he was wedded to Miss Effie Lucy Merchant. They resided on a farm north of Wolbach until 1922 when they moved to town, where he passed away July 13, 1933, after a month of serious illness. Besides his widow, he is survived by six children: Percy, Ernest, Mrs. Lavina Kraft, Bert, Clarence, and Mrs. Effie Nelson, all of this county. Five grand children, one sister and two half-brothers also remain. Mr. Thayer was a kind husband, loving father and a good neighbor. The surviving relatives have the deepest sympathy of their many friends.
