He was the son of Alfred W. and Kate Reams, who lived northwest of Fairmont at the time. June 9, 1920, in Concordia, Kas., Mr. Reams was united in marriage to Terese Dillen. there were no children born to this union, but two were adopted. In 1930 Rachel was taken into the home and three years later Esther was adopted. Ernest Reams always lived in this community with the exception of a few times when he lived elsewhere for a very short time. He had a mechanical turn and as early as the age of twenty-one he began to assist in the operation of a threshing machine. He had worked in the Alva Brown garage for more than a decade. He had been enjoying his usual good health and his regular work, but Saturday morning, August 26, 1939, he did not wake up and was discovered dead in bed. he leaves his wife, two children, Rachel and Esther, five brothers and sisters; Fred, Mrs. Edward Slama, Miss Blanch Reams and John Reams, and Charles Reams, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Federated church Monday afternoon. Rev. Isaac Cassel, the minister officiated. The music was furnished by a quartet, Mrs. Mamie Kemp, Mrs. Mary Goodrich, Wayne Malsbary and W.E. Black. Mildred Starks was the organist. The pallbearers were Edward Laschansky, Charles Baker, J.J. Clark, Antony Lowe, Frank Ritchey and Robert Wirz. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
