Luther had been involved in a traffic accident last Friday near 48th and L Streets, and had been hospitalized since, the son said. A native of the Hooper area he farmed and fed cattle in that area before and after moving to Omaha in 1953, when he also became a feeder cattle order buyer on the Omaha Livestock Market. He was a field representative of the U. S. Department of Agriculture at the state and national level for 16 years, starting in the mid-1930s. He was delegate to the Democratic conventions in 1960 and 1968 and was an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for the 3rd Congressional District in 1954 and 1956. Survivors include sons, Ernest H. of Fairfax, Va., Clark of Chicago, Ill., and Clyde of Burke, Va.; daughter, Dorothy Grosserode of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Masonic graveside rites by Lodge No. 72 of Hooper will accompany burial in Hooper Cemetery.
