Description	:	Minahan, Ernestine "Ernie" (Kohles), Age 97 Ernie was born on Valentine's Day, 1917 in Earling,Iowa. She was one of 10 children born to George and Carrie Kohles. She married Bernard "Bunny" Minahan in 1940. They had eight children and lived their entire married life in the house "on the hill" outside of Neola, and wintered for many years in Sun City, Ariz. She was generous in sharing... Read More	Minahan, Ernestine "Ernie" (Kohles), Age 97 Ernie was born on Valentine's Day, 1917 in Earling,Iowa. She was one of 10 children born to George and Carrie Kohles. She married Bernard "Bunny" Minahan in 1940. They had eight children and lived their entire married life in the house "on the hill" outside of Neola, and wintered for many years in Sun City, Ariz. Ernie was an accomplished artist and painted pictures in oil and ceramics. In her later years, she painted many plates and other china pieces with birds, flowers and farm scenes. She was generous in sharing these with extended family members. Ernie had a lovely voice and always enjoyed singing and listening to music. Ernie was a member of St. Patrick's Church, their choir and Altar and Rosary Society. Ernie is remembered as a gracious hostess, always being able to prepare a delicious meal on short notice for anyone who visited. Her large extended family loved to come to the farm. Ernie is survived by her children and spouses: Jean Minahan, Des Moines, Janice (Gary) Sonderland, Petersburg, N. Dakota, Mike (Corrine), Tom (Debbie), Dave (Linda) all Neola, Chuck (Sheila) ,Terry (Tracy) all Minden; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Swift, Clive, IA; and daughter-in-law, Terri Schnitker; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ernie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard, son Pat and her siblings. Visitation Wednesday 5-8 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm at St. Patrick's Church in Neola. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, 10:30 am also at St. Patrick's. Interment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola with a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Memorials to the church preferred.
