He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at his home in Marquette, before being taken to the Aurora hospital. He had been actively engaged in his work thruout the day and the attack came without warning. Memorial services were held August 26, at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Central City. The Rev. John Knippenberg officiated. With Richard Dankert at the organ, a quartet composed of Ervin and Virgil Blasé, LaVerne Schulze and Elmer Wilshusen sang, "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "Safe in the Arm of Jesus. The floral tribute was beautiful and abundant. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Polk. Pallbearers were Alvin Smith, Edward Dobberstein, Erwin Light, Ewalt Klingsporn, Clarence Meerkatz and Edmond Klingsporn. Ervin Paul Moderow was born at Beemer, Nebr., on June 30, 1895 and died on Aug. 24, 1956, at Aurora, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 24 days. He was reared in the community of his birth. He was graduated from Concordia Teachers College in Seward in 1916 and thereafter taught in the parochial school at Col Camp, Mo. For 4 years. He located in Polk in 1921 where he was a successful teacher in the Christian Day School for 18 years. He taught at the Hebron Christian Day School in 1945. In 1941 the family moved to Aurora and have since operated the Moderow Dry Cleaning and Service route, moving to Marquette in 1947. Throughout his residence in this community Mr. Moderow hs made many good friends by his congenial personality and his reliable business dealings. He is survived by his wife, Emilie; five sons, Leroy of Addison, Ill., Melbourne of Marquette, Kenneth of Grand Island, Roger of Love's Park, Ill., and Willis a staff sergeant in the Air Force in Korea. One brother, Ben a Moderow of Aurora five sisters.
