Description	:	E. P Groth Rites Held Funeral services were Saturday in First Lutheran Church for Mr. Espen Peter Groth, 90, pioneer resident of the Enderlin area, who died March 15 at Valley City. Rev. A. L. Selid conducted the service. Mrs. O. A. Onstad was vocalist and Mrs. Frank Helmer, organist. Pallbearers were Neil Sorlein, Fargo, Lloyd Schmidt, Wyman Galbreath, Ervin Groth, Eldon Groth and Donald Groth. Mr. Groth was born in Ylvigsager in Songna, Norway, November 30, 1859. Pallbearers were Neil Sorlein, Fargo, Lloyd Schmidt, Wyman Galbreath, Ervin Groth, Eldon Groth and Donald Groth. Mr. Groth was born in Ylvigsager in Songna, Norway, November 30, 1859. When six years of age he came to America with his parents. They arrived at Conover, Iowa, which was as far west as the railroad was. It was at Mona, Iowa that Mr. Groth grew to manhood and married Miss Bertha Revling, in 1887. They lived at Lyle, MN for 12 years before coming to Enderlin in 1898. He was engaged in farming in Ransom County for many years and in 1920 retired and moved to Enderlin. Mrs. Groth died November 8, 1942, after which time Mr. Groth lived with his sons. His last years were spent at the Old People’s Home in Valley City. There were 11 children in the Espen Groth family, nine of whom are living; Archie, Earnie and Harvie of Enderlin, Orlie of Tacoma, WA, Perrie of Owatonna, MN and Andie, Brainerd, MN; and three daughters, Abbie (Mrs. Owen) Dabid of St. Paul, MN, Rubie of St. Paul, and Bessie of Minneapolis. Mr. Groth is also survived by a brother, Peter Groth of LaMoure, ND, and a sister, Mrs. Peter Hildebrand of minneapolis; 22 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
