Description	:	Jens Peter Groth, 83, a resident of this community 55 years, died last Wednesday at the home of his son, Herbert Groth at Enderlin. Funeral services were to be Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. in the J. Roy Peterson Funeral Home, Rev. O. J. Lutness officiating. Mr. Groth was born in Sogn, Norway, April 10, 1864. Funeral services were to be Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. in the J. Roy Peterson Funeral Home, Rev. O. J. Lutness officiating. Mr. Groth was born in Sogn, Norway, April 10, 1864. He came to America with his parents when about 3 years of age. He grew to manhood near Lyle, Minnesota, and was united in marriage to Miss Olena Helgeson on March 31, 1890. Miss Helgeson's home was at Lanesboro, Minnesota. The young couple lived at Lyle for almost 2 years after which they came to Ransom County and settled on a farm in Moore Township. Later they moved to Nome, where they lived for about seven years. They came back on the farm for a few years, but moved to Enderlin in 1935, due to the illness of Mrs. Groth. She passed away in August, 1937. He was in poor health for many years, suffering severely from asthma and other ailments. Besides his son, Herbert, he leaves two other sons, Clarence of Nome and Alfred of Seattle, Washington, a daughter, Carrie of Seattle; two brothers, Peter of LaMoure and Espen of Valley City, a sister, Mrs. Hildebrand of Minneapolis, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Three children died in infancy. The J. P. Groth family united with the Fillmore Lutheran Church July 26, 1896 and have held membership there since. Burial will be in the family lot in the church cemetery.
