Description	:	Obituary, The Churdan Reporter, March 23, 1900: "Mary Estella Canady was born at Zenorsville, Boone county, Iowa, April 10, 1886 and died at her home northeast of town, March 10, 1900; aged 23 years and 11 months. Stella, as she was familiarly known, was a bright and happy girl, loved and respected by all who knew her. She was baptized in the Christian church in 1890, and was a member of the Y.P.S.C.E. Read More	Obituary, The Churdan Reporter, March 23, 1900: "Mary Estella Canady was born at Zenorsville, Boone county, Iowa, April 10, 1886 and died at her home northeast of town, March 10, 1900; aged 23 years and 11 months. Stella, as she was familiarly known, was a bright and happy girl, loved and respected by all who knew her. She was baptized in the Christian church in 1890, and was a member of the Y.P.S.C.E. She was a faithful Christian girl, never tiring in doing what was right and always caring for those she loved and cherished. Stella had had poor health for some months, being a sufferer of pneumonia this winter. She seemed some better but had not entirely recovered from her recent sickness, although she had been able to be around. But on Thursday night before her sad death, she felt some worse and so retired early. Before morning she had grown worse and suffered great pain until her death, which occurred at 12 o'clock, Saturday, from paralysis of the heart. She leaves a father, mother, five brothers, five sisters, a host of relatives and enumerable friends to morn (sic) her loss. She seemed to know that she was not long for this world and often remarked to one of her near friends that she was not afraid to die; for it was God's will and she would not need to suffer any more. Rev. Manning conducted the funeral service and preached a touching sermon on "Is life worth living." Six of her young associates acted as pallbearers and her remains were laid to rest in the Churdan cemetery. The heart-stricken family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement." Family story has it that she was about to become engaged at the time of her illness.
