She was born June 5, 1920, to Elizabeth and George Jacob Besel in Farmer, Wash. Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dave; her brothers, Herman and Jack Besel; and sisters Lydia Besel and Betty Mohr. She is survived by her daughter, Janie (Jerry) Story of Monte Rose, Colo.; son Duane (Susan) Wagner of Laurel; grandchildren Greg (Erica) Story, Jim (Romana) Story, Jason (Tylissa) Wagner and Dusty (Kristen) Wagner; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Kammerzell; brothers Roy (Gladys) Besel and Rubin (Mary) Besel; and many nieces and nephews. Esther and her husband Dave were rock hounds in their younger years and enjoyed hunting for large rocks with Clara and George for their rock gardens. She was a longtime member of Pilgrim Congregational Church. Esther had a green thumb and loved gardening. Her large rock garden was beautiful and she especially loved roses. She also did a lot of knitting, crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles and reading. She was a beautiful, kind and loving woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to give special thanks to all the great staff of Richardson Cottage and those with Rocky Mountain Hospice who helped so much the last weeks of her life. Visitations will begin Thursday, March 19, at 4 p.m., at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at the Pilgrim Congregational Church ,with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to the Richardson Cottage, 600 Round House Lane, Laurel, MT 59044.
