Description	:	Esther Girard, 90, of Vermillion, South Dakota, passed away, Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Unity Point Health - St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa. Esther was born on November 30, 1923 in rural Spink, South Dakota to Edward and Alphild (Hjemdahl) Anderson. She married the love of her life, Leo Girard, on April 12 1947, and the two remained happily married until his passing in March of 2005. They farmed in the Burbank area for many years following retirement from farming, they moved into the city of Vermillion. Esther was born on November 30, 1923 in rural Spink, South Dakota to Edward and Alphild (Hjemdahl) Anderson. She married the love of her life, Leo Girard, on April 12 1947, and the two remained happily married until his passing in March of 2005. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women Group, Naomi Circle, Vermillion Senior Citizens, Clay County Historical Society, W.H. Over Museum, and former Quota Club. She also served as church organist at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point for many years. She is survived by three sisters, Fern Svatos, of Omaha, Nebraska, Frances Granger of Webster, Wisconsin, and Wilma (Carrol) Strand of Elk Point, South Dakota; many nieces and nephews.
