Linn, who has been hovering between life and death during the past month, peacefully passed away at her home, nearly all of the cloestest relatives being present when the end came. Esther Gillespie was born in Van Wert County, Ohio, May 8, 1841, and passed away at her home in Lehigh December 27, 1914 at the age of 74 years, 7 months, and 13 days. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harman (Martha nee Adams) Gillespie; to Danville, Illinois, when in her infancy, and where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to F. M. Linn Sept. 1, 1861, and they have made their home in that vicinity for the past thirty years. After coming to Iowa they made their home east of town for about fifteen years, and the remainder of the time they have lived in that place. To this union ten children were born, of which eight are still living, two daughters preceding their mother to the other shore. The children remaining are: C. V. Linn, Mrs. Alice Keyser, Mrs. Rachel Williams, Mrs. Sarah Timmons, Newt, John and Willie Linn and Mrs. Clara Gray. Mrs. Linn was a good woman and lived a Christian life, and her death is mourned by a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from the United Brethren church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. C. Smithson, and the interment occurred in the McGuire Bend cemetery. The church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends. A number also accompanied the remains to the last resting place. The sincere sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved relatives in their hour of sorrow.
