Description	:	Esther "Granny" Aasen, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 in East Wenatchee. She was born June 3, 1913 in Mitchell, SD to Joe and Bertha (Brudvig) Johnson. The family relocated to Staples, MN where Esther graduated high school. The following year she attended the Teacher's Training School after which she taught in rural schools. Her certificate credits were earned in St. Cloud and Mankato Teacher's Colleges. Read More	Esther "Granny" Aasen, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 in East Wenatchee. She was born June 3, 1913 in Mitchell, SD to Joe and Bertha (Brudvig) Johnson. The family relocated to Staples, MN where Esther graduated high school. The following year she attended the Teacher's Training School after which she taught in rural schools. Her certificate credits were earned in St. Cloud and Mankato Teacher's Colleges. In 1941, Esther accompanied her sister Lois to Oregon and from there she went to Seattle where she met and married Harold Aasen in 1942. She and Harold moved to Entiat in 1945 where they worked in the orchards until purchasing their own orchard in Sunnyslope in 1951, operating it until 1975. Esther was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was involved in many facets of the church's educational programs. Survivors include a son, Tom of East Wenatchee; grandsons, Jess and Travis; daughter, Jeanette and husband, Bob Hathaway of St. Paul, MN and their two daughters, Mindy and Kristie; daughter, Lois and husband Dave Tribble and daughters, Erin and Megan of Seattle; sister, Lois Weseloh of Redwood Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, five brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held at Jones & Jones Colonial Chapel Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 at Wenatchee City Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Jon Nelson officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Esther's name to the Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Jones & Jones Funeral Directors.
