Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on March 25, 1917, in Pierce County northwest of Meadow Grove to Edward and Mary (Schutt) Duhachek. She was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. O.E. Schlect at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church south of Tilden. Before marriage, she worked in Norfolk, Denver and several years at Brandeis in Omaha. She was married April 18, 1948, to Oscar E. Meyers by the Rev. Serheart E. Walters at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church south of Tilden. The couple lived on a farm homesteaded by Oscar’s great-grandparents north of Holbrook. They were members of St. Matthews Lutheran Church north of Holbrook. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at St. Matthews. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe before moving to Arapahoe in October 1980. She and her husband farmed 14 more years before they retired in 1995. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar; a young sister, Opal; sister, Pearl Kohl; sister-in-law, Sophie Neimeier; brothers-in-law, Elwood Kohl, Victor Meyers and Herman Neimeier; niece, Jackie Meyers Haussler; and grandniece, Cristy Neimeier. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Meyers of Holbrook; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
