Ethel Estella VanDeventer daughter of Amasa Romanzo and Matilda VanDeventer was born June 25, 1896 at Rochelle, Ill. She was six months old when she came with her parents to Iowa. They located at Lindberg, west of Startford, later moving to Lehigh and then to the Homer community. At one time they operated a farm southeast of Homer. She attended schools in Lehigh an Homer. She was united in marriage Dec. 25, 1913 to James William Dingman. They resided in Webster City and community until 1916 when they moved to Minnesota and farmed near Wadena. In the fall of 1920, the returned to Webster City. Two years later they returned to Minnesota, but again move to Webster City the next year and had since made their home at 128 Apple Avenue. Mrs. Dingman is survived by her husband, six daughters and five sons: Mrs. Melvin (Wilma) Graham of Cainsville, Mo.; Mrs. Marvin (Lila) Mix of Englewood, CO.; Mrs. Lillian Hanen of Van Wert, Iowa; Mrs. Lewis (Belva) Neubauer of Williams; Mrs. George (Viola) Doolittle and Mrs. Marvin (Mavis) Kleckner, both of Webster City: Isaac Dingman of Burlington, Vernon Dingman of Lineville, Duane Dingman of Webster City, William D (Billy) Dingman of Burlington and Gerald Irving Dingman at home. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and one sister and two brothers: Mrs. Amy Grossnickle of Lehigh, Jack VanDeventer of Duluth, MN and Ernest Vandeventer of Mt. Home, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by one son, Frances Marion, who died at the age of four; three grandchildren; her parents; one sister, who died in infancy and one sister, Mrs. Clara Kelley who died in 1945. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. A kindly neighborly woman, her home and her family were always her main interests in life.
