GEORGE BEYER The passing of Mrs. George Beyer at the hospital Monday evening brings sorrow not only to her family but to a wide circle of friends, many of whom have known her since childhood. For some time her health had not been good, but she bravely went about her duties until it was physically impossible for her to carry on. Ethel Beyer was the only daughter in a family of four children born to Benjamin and Dora Simpson. The father, a railroad man, died when the children were small, so Ethel learned to assume responsibility early in life. As soon as she was old enough to obtain employment she gave up attending school to help her mother and brothers. For several years she was employed by the Bell Telephone Co. as an operator, later she took a position with the Pace Transfer Co. where she was employed until her marriage to George Beyer, January 13, 1916. Their silver wedding anniversary occurred this year. Mrs. Beyer was a devoted wife and mother. Her responsibilities in her girlhood home were only continued in her own family. She has been a true helpmate to her husband and they have worked together to give their two sons every advantage possible. Mrs. Beyer was an active worker in the various departments of the Methodist church. She served in official capacity in the women's societies and in the Sunday school. She took an active part in various civic groups and was responsible for much of the success of the organization of Band Parents. Whatever she undertook was given her best effort whether in social, civic or religious groups or in her home. During her illness her family has given her devoted care. Her mother has stayed in the home and her husband has spent all of his time with her when not at his work at the light plant across the street from their home. At various times when her condition was serious, she was taken to the hospital for special care, but she was happiest in her home, surrounded by her family. Her many friends have many pleasant memories of her many kindnesses and the interest shown in their problems. Her pleasant friendly greetings made life happiest for many. She is survived by her husband, George Beyer; two sons, James and Herbert; her mother, Mrs. Dora Bushley,; her daughter-in-law Mrs. James Beyer,; three brothers, James, Will and Clifford Simpson; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church.
