Curry The following sketch is taken from the Humeston Era (Iowa) and concerns former well known resident of this county, where the family had their home for many years, most respected citizens of Warren Township at Warren Center. (Lucas County, Iowa) A large number of former neighbors yet reside in this county who deeply sympathize with the aged husband and children in their bereavement, which occurred on the 9th of August (1912): “Mrs. J.N. Curry, aged seventy-four years, died last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. W, Roller, at Sapulpa, Okla., after an illness of several weeks. The body arrived in Humeston Sunday afternoon, accompanied by Mr. Curry and his two daughters, Mrs. S.W. Roller, of Sapulpa, and Mrs. Minnie Douglas, of Buffalo, N.Y. The funeral services were held Monday at 10 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Curry’s sister-in-law, Mrs. A.A. Smith, conducted by the Rev. R. Burton Sheppard, of the Methodist church. Burial was made at Cambria. Ethelinda Smith was born on May 20th, 1838, in Washington County, Ohio. She converted and joined the Methodist church in early life. On June 17th, 1857, she was married to Jasper N. Curry at the home of her brother, A.A. Smith, in Humeston. They resided here many years and were highly respected citizens. She is survived by a husband and four children: Albert Z., Cherokee, Mrs. Alvira Roller, Sapulpa, Okla., Mrs. Minnie Douglas, Buffalo, N.Y., and Wilbert S., Erie Kan. A noble Christian mother has gone to her reward, and her husband, who is eighty years old, is waiting the call to be with her. Mrs. Curry was seriously ill for many weeks, during which time she suffered severe pain, but was sustained by her implicit faith in God.”
