Description	:	Eugene passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville at the age of 91. Eugene was born on December 23, 1922, the son of Alfred and Gerda (Nelson) Johnson in Hunter, ND. He grew up in this area working on the family farm, graduating from Hunter High School in 1943. Eugene was united in marriage to Lorraine Jorgensen on December 1, 1946. They made their home on a farm near Casselton, ND and later Colgate, ND. They moved to a farm near Hillsboro in 1956 where Eugene continued farming until his retirement in 1979.... Eugene was born on December 23, 1922, the son of Alfred and Gerda (Nelson) Johnson in Hunter, ND. He grew up in this area working on the family farm, graduating from Hunter High School in 1943. Eugene was united in marriage to Lorraine Jorgensen on December 1, 1946. They made their home on a farm near Casselton, ND and later Colgate, ND. They moved to a farm near Hillsboro in 1956 where Eugene continued farming until his retirement in 1979. They moved into Hillsboro in 1975. They spent a number of winters with family in California where he worked at Mission for Children. After retiring from farming, Eugene worked in Security at the American Crystal Sugar Beet Plant in Hillsboro for over 20 years, finally retiring at the age of 80. Throughout the years, Eugene was very active in his church, teaching Sunday school and singing in a men's quartet. He also enjoyed playing his trombone and the harmonica, reading, spending time with his family, and visiting with the many friends he made over the years. Lorraine passed away on September 19, 2008. He had most recently made his home at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Eugene is survived by his children, Linda (Mel) Loucks of Glendale, CA; Susan Salvucci of Bakersfield, CA; David (Nancy) Johnson of Hillsboro; and Sandra (Doug) Kiserow of Cary, NC; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Mary Johnson; his grandson, Jonathan; and his siblings – Abby Johnson, George Nordgren, Leonard "Pat" Nordgren, Elvina Grage, and Pearl Pearson. Memorials are preferred to the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville
